PTA Launches New VPN Registration Framework to Support Pakistan’s IT and E-commerce Growth
Streamlined VPN Registration Aims to Enhance Security and Uninterrupted Access for IT Companies and Freelancers in Pakistan’s Expanding Digital Economy

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA.) recently held a consultation session on its updated VPN registration framework, with participation from the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoIT&T), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and the Pakistan IT Association (P@SHA). A Pakistan Telecommunication Authority press release stated that the session focused on the e-commerce sector.
PTA has introduced a more efficient VPN registration process, allowing IT companies, freelancers, and other legitimate users to register their VPNs easily through an online platform. This initiative ensures secure, uninterrupted access, demonstrating the PTA's support for Pakistan's rapidly growing digital economy.
While the session highlighted the critical role of VPNs in maintaining secure connectivity, it also addressed concerns about the potential misuse of illegal activities. Companies and freelancers are encouraged to register their VPNs under this new framework to support seamless business operations and minimize disruptions.
